Starlight Shine The Ancient One

An immortal wanderer hailing from an age long past, Starlight has been all across the globe, acting as a negotiator between countries. He once saw war as solely his responsibility, and did all he could to prevent it. But now he is older, wiser. He sees that ponies cannot be prevented from fighting. While it breaks his heart, he must sit idly by and watch, no matter how he tries. He simply can't be everywhere at once. So he settled down in Dresenia, the site of his failure (read the lore) long ago. He has seen the kingdom fall, rise, and grow. He made friends. He finally knew peace. But one day, he was called upon. His ancient wisdom was needed by a far off nation (not Equestria). And so, he set off, leaving in the night to avoid goodbyes. He would return. And now he has.

Edit:

This is a pony. He is crazy. He had a family, but they died. But that's okay, because one day he will die. He likes to do fun things. He likes to make others laugh. He never went to school. He is a mortal wanderer that has been all over Dresenia, but never beyond it. Ponies don't seem to like him, ever.

There done.

Edit:

Sorry for being so brash and rude, everybody. Just been under a little stress lately, and I admit it was wrong of me to take it out on those who were only trying to help me. And so, with apologies take care of, I have carefully considered characteristics for a new OC. If you'd like to read about her, allow me to introduce Hot "Smokey" Forge.

So, from the first two words of your background, I can safely say you need to work on making a normal OC background. Because this isn't going to cut it.

"An immortal," isn't the best way to start off with an OC, ever. From everything I've read, you don't give us anything other than he's very old and doesn't like conflict. That's nice and all but why an immortal?

You need to make a normal character, you can't just go willy nilly and say I'm immortal because you want to. This is a Mary Sue. If you need help, I will help you. Either way, you need to fix this because making some random immortal character isn't going to be accepted here like this.

Oh, also, welcome back to EQR.

Well, actually, this is the character I've had since forever ago when I left EqR. I will eventually flesh it out, but I'm a bit stripped for ideas since I had to remake his backstory from almost nothing (Accidentally broke Da Rules). Also, Mary Sue is a term that means absolutely nothing Mary Sue is a character with an "irrelevantly over-skilled or over-idealized nature," which is a direct quote from here. There is nothing "over-skilled" nor "over-idealized" about being immortal.

Bottom Line? Normal is boring, Mary Sue is a hollow term, and my character was accepted long before this post existed.

Oh, also, thank you.

To start, it's nice to see that you did a little research but you also fail to state the whole quote from the tropes. You say Mary Sue is a hollow term but it's far from it, anyone on the server can tell you that.

"These traits usually reference the character's perceived importance in the story, their physical design and an irrelevantly over-skilled or over-idealized nature."

That is the full quote, what I'm getting at is the physical design of being immortal. You say that being normal is boring, but I can assure you that a normal character who is not immortal can be just as fun if not more so than a immortal one.

As for being accepted long before this post, that doesn't matter. That was then and this is now. I'm telling you that just making a immortal pony without going through the lore team isn't going to be accepted, at all.

Now, there is a small loophole you can use, but there are rules you'll have to follow. You can use this trait of immortality as a deviant RP, but you have to keep the immortality away from the normal RPs of the server. No referencing or inferring it unless the people you're RPing with are going in with the deviant RP as well. You CAN NOT drag people into it though.

If you do this though, you also have to realize that anything that happens in RP would be non-canon with the server and when you go to RP with the others of the server, what you've done in the deviant has not happened.

I hope you understand, if not, just ask.

Oh, also, you're welcome.

P.S. - Also, after some research, I was able to find no acceptance of Starlight Shine. From what I've read and can see, people have told you that the character breaks the rules. Please do direct me to this location where Starlight Shine is accepted.

I agree with ponikvar,

The fact that your oc is immortal (which isnt allowed anyway) and how he is so wise, has been everywhere and can fix nation arguments aka wars by negotiating, it seems like a bit of a mary sue to me.
Also if I was going to rp with a character like this i personally wouldn't find it fun, at all. I mean if you can't really have that many conflicts, the character cant get hurt and they know mostly everything, it kindof ruins the fun of roleplay and developing your character.

I really don't mean to be rude, im only trying to help by sharing my opinion.
And welcome back :)
